Breakfast Oysters
A Taste of the East Coast at Sunrise
Every Saturday morning in Nova Scotia’s capital city, foodies in search of local fresh produce congregate at the Halifax Farmers’ Market. It is a bit of a puzzle finding your way around the ancient brick hallways and stone corridors of the market, but the quest is well rewarded. There are two purveyors of fresh oysters who have started a new and uniquely Nova Scotian tradition – oysters for breakfast. These delicious little tastes of the sea, strike the palette in a refreshingly salty way. “They wake your mouth up, a squeeze of lemon and you are good to go. ”
It is well worth rising early to visit the ShanDaph and Indian Point stands at the market. Both will offer you the freshest oyster possible. At one dollar a pop, this is a new affordable addiction.
