Widely acclaimed as the master of modern Middle Eastern cooking, Greg Malouf has transformed the Australian restaurant scene with his innovative food, and his influence has spread through Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Greg is the executive chef at MoMo restaurant, where he delights diners with the flavours of his heritage, presented with exciting contemporary flair. Greg is a regular contributor to various publications and travels widely for master classes and guest chef appearances. He also consults to restaurants in Melbourne, the Yarra Valley, Broome, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Jordan.
With his ex-wife Lucy Malouf, Greg has written four books — Arabesque [1999], Moorish [2001], Saha (2005) and Turquoise (2007). Each has been widely acclaimed and praised for showcasing the traditional ingredients and dishes of the region while also offering a window on Greg’s unique modern Middle Eastern cuisine. The Maloufs’ award-winning food-travel books have been translated into several languages and are now published around the world. In 2006, Saha won the Gold trophy for best food book at the Gourmet Voice food media awards. It also took out the coveted Grand Prix award – the peak achievement of the festival.
