Nayla was born and raised in Beirut, a colorful and diverse city that thrives off the Mediterranean to which she attributes her path in life and whom she is today. After finishing a degree in political science she turned naturally to her longtime passion; the food world. She created and distributed chocolate tarts in Los Angeles in the early 90's to a diverse new wave of coffee shops and witnessed the emergence of the food movement in California. After an immersion into the kitchen to become a self-taught foodie and a short passage in the kitchen of Patina restaurant she learned the art of making ice cream- now her full time passion. Nayla returned to Beirut to start OSLO her own ice cream company. Seven years later she opened, Grüen eatery a contemporary restaurant that has become a Beirut must, followed by MILK her ice cream parlor in Los Angeles that has become the quintessential stop-over for the who's-who.

As of late she is embarking on yet another project in Beirut with OSLOW a line of slow products inspired by the beauty of the slow food movement. Nayla will be identifying traditional products from small producers that reside in the hills and valleys of Lebanon and giving them access to the urban markets.
