Fashion in Food at the James Beard House

What happens when a talented, young, handsome designer gets in the kitchen with NY's top culinary talent? The saying "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach" does not apply to men only. The female crowd at the James Beard foundation went wild last night as Zac Posen fed the girls his tastey treats and mingled with them taking pictures and letting them lust over his food and good looks.

Zac Posen used his keen eye for color and texture mixing deep purple potatoes with cloud white creme fraiche, shiny black caviar and a sprinkle of green chives. Giada De Laurentiis delighted us with an Eggplant Timbale. The thinnest strips of baked eggplant wrapped a mixture of penne, peas and meat in a steamy and satisfying Italian "mama" way. Marcus Samuelsson blew me away with his organic chiken dish, sprinkled with pomegranate and other fall tidbits, accompanied by a heavenly puff of foie gras and pumpkin puree. As I shared my enthusiasm with Marcus about his dish, he explained that his food creations, like fashion creations, are a poetic expression. I said "exactly!...It's the poetry of food"

As a fashion designer myself, I was inspired! James Beard House dinners? I see more of them coming. French Culinary Institute? Hello!
